Let The Show Go On!
For more than 75 years, canine competitors and spectators alike have flocked to the Portland Expo Center for the annual dog show. Sustained by the love of dogs, the dog show is now one of Oregon’s oldest continuous sporting events and was Nationally voted Dog Show of the Year.
Today the Rose City Classic is the premier canine sporting event in the Pacific Northwest featuring more than 150 wonderful breeds, Junior Showmanship, a student art contest for youth; and top canine athletes showing off their amazing talents in AKC events that test their skills: Agility, Scent Work, Trick Dogs, Canine Good Citizen, Obedience, Rally and more. The dogs love it. Their human partners love it. And spectators love seeing such magnificent animals doing what they love to do.
Like all things that endure, the Rose City Classic has had to weather some mighty storms along the way and grow with the times. To their credit, the all-volunteer members of the nonprofit clubs that host Rose City Classic have worked their hearts out to do just that.
The values that drive us are the preservation of our breeds and the desire to provide the next generation with this life-enhancing pastime centered on the human-canine bond, the oldest relationship between human beings and any other species.
We created this donation option because we recognize that trends like urbanization, our citizens’ ever-increasing reliance on couch-potato-technology rather than physical activity, economic downturns, and crazy anti-purebred activism will continue creating greater challenges in the future. So, we’re asking, if you love dog’s too, and value the sports that embody and help preserve the human-canine bond, please consider a donation to assure the continuation of this amazing event.
